Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Speech into Text ("we", "us") handles information when you use the website at speechintotext.com (the "Service"). We have designed the Service to collect as little personal information as possible.

1. Information you provide

Speech and text. When you use the microphone, your browser's speech recognition converts your voice into text. We do not record or store your audio. The text you write, your dictionary and voice commands, and your preferences are kept in your browser's local storage on your own device. If you turn on auto-save, your text is saved there as well. This content is not sent to our servers.

Contact form. If you contact us, we collect the name, email address, and message you send. We use these details only to reply to you and to handle your request.

2. Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our web host may keep standard server logs, which can include your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit, and the time of your visit. These logs help keep the Service secure and running properly.

3. Speech recognition providers

Speech recognition is provided by your browser. In Google Chrome, speech is processed by Google's speech service, so you need an internet connection to dictate. Other browsers use their own speech services. Your use of these services is subject to the provider's privacy policy.

4. How we use information

5. Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers that help us host and operate the Service, and where required by law. When you choose to use the Translation, YouTube, Google, Print, or sharing buttons, the text you have written is sent to that third-party service as part of the action you requested.

6. Third-party services and links

The Service links to third-party websites and services, including Google, YouTube, Twitter (X), Facebook, and WhatsApp. Their privacy practices are their own and are governed by their privacy policies. We encourage you to read them.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

We use your browser's local storage to remember your settings, as described in our Cookie Policy.

8. Data retention

We keep contact messages only for as long as needed to respond to you and to keep a record of the conversation. Server logs are kept by our web host for the period it sets. Data stored in your browser remains there until you clear it.

9. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children's privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict its use, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact us through our Contact us page. Information stored only in your browser can be removed at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

12. International use

Our service providers and the third-party services listed above may process information in countries other than your own, which may have different data protection laws.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
