Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 17, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how the Speech into Text website at speechintotext.com uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them. Please read it together with our Privacy Policy.
What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Browsers also offer local storage, which works in a similar way to remember information on your device. Both can be used to remember your preferences between visits.
How Speech into Text uses storage
The tool itself does not set tracking cookies. Instead, it uses your browser's local storage to remember the settings you choose, so the tool looks and behaves the way you left it. This includes:
- The language you selected for speech recognition
- Your font, font size, and dark or light theme
- Whether the word counter, auto-save, and capitalisation options are on
- Your custom dictionary and voice commands, if you created any
- Your text, if you turned on auto-save
This information stays on your device. It is not sent to our servers, and it remains in your browser until you clear it.
Cookies set by third parties
The Service links to third-party services such as Google Translate, YouTube, Google Search, Twitter (X), Facebook, and WhatsApp. When you visit those services, they may set their own cookies or similar technologies under their own cookie policies. We do not control these cookies.
Google AdSense and advertising cookies
Speech into Text displays advertisements through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see them, and measure how they perform. These may include:
- Advertising cookies, such as
__gadsand__gpi, which help Google recognise your browser and serve ads; - Google ad cookies, such as
IDEandDSID, which Google uses to show ads based on your interests and recent visits to this site and other sites that use Google advertising; - Preference and measurement cookies, such as
NIDand1P_JAR, which store ad preferences and help Google understand ad performance.
The text you dictate or type in the tool is stored only in your browser. It is not passed to Google AdSense.
To learn how Google uses cookies on sites that use its services, read How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Your choices for personalised ads
You can choose not to receive personalised ads at any time:
- Visit Google Ads Settings to turn off personalised advertising;
- Visit aboutads.info to opt out of personalised advertising from participating companies;
- In the European Economic Area, visit youronlinechoices.com to manage advertising cookies.
If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will not be based on your interests. Your browser settings can also block third-party cookies, although this may limit some features of the Service and of advertising.
Consent in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland
Where the law requires it, for example for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we will ask for your consent through a consent message before advertising cookies are set. You can accept or decline these cookies, and you can change your choice later.
Summary of storage and cookies
| Type | Purpose | Set by | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Browser local storage | Remembers your language, appearance, and tool settings | Speech into Text (in your browser only) | Until you clear your browser data |
| Google AdSense advertising cookies | Show, limit, and measure ads; personalised ads based on your interests | Google and its advertising partners | As set by Google, see the Google policies linked above |
| Third-party cookies | Set when you visit linked services such as Google or social networks | The third-party service | As set by that service |
How to manage cookies and storage
You can control cookies and local storage in your browser settings. You can block third-party cookies, delete stored site data, or set your browser to clear data when you close it. Clearing local storage resets your saved preferences and any text kept by auto-save. Blocking storage for this site may stop your settings from being remembered.
